You often hear Stewardship is a
'Way of Life" at SMM, but what does that mean? We have an active Stewardship
Council, but what do they do?
You might be thinking all stewardship is about is money.
Stewardship is an attitude of the mind
and heart that is expressed in action, a way of living. The
Stewardship Council assists our pastor in developing that Way of
Life. The Stewardship Council and its
members work with our current
ministries to maintain the parish Stewardship process. This
process involves educating and communicating this "Way of Life"
to our parishioners through events like our Annual Ministry Fair
and Commitment of Time, Talent & Treasure, the Archbishop's
Annual Appeal, the Litany of the Ministries, Youth Stewardship,
and other planned training opportunities for our parish
community.
In addition to current activities, we
would like to develop opportunities through retreats, special
on-site events and seminars that help all of our parishioners
hear the Lord's voice and respond. We would like to see every
parishioner discern, accept, and live out joyfully and
generously the commitments, responsibilities, and roles to which
God calls him or her.
The Council is always looking for SMM
parishioners who want to become more involved in the parish and
who want to help bring parishioners and ministries together. Do
you see stewardship as a spiritual act, as an opportunity, and
have a love for our parish and our church? If this is
interesting to you or you feel called in this way, we hope you
will consider joining the council.
Stewardship is most effective with a
variety of talents or skills please contact our Stewardship
Chairperson Laura Weikle at
lauraweikle@bellsouth.net or 770-366-1123 to learn more about
the council and become involved.
As
each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another
as good stewards of God's varied grace. (1 Pt 4:10)
