As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts carefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord. Our parish is not simply a place to fulfill our weekly obligation. It is, and should be, an ongoing source of spiritual strength and a center for learning, teaching, and sharing our faith. Above all, our parish should be a community of faith where what is experienced in the Eucharist transforms our daily lives-at home, at school, in the workplace, and in society.
We are stewards of the Church as well as stewards of human life, creation, the environment, our money and possessions, as well as our gifts, who have time, talent and treasures to be shared in solidarity. How we use it, what we think of it, whether we are willing to share it-all make a difference in the way we live our lives. Of course this means contributing to the support of the parish and to its many ministries. We are invited, and even challenged, to make gifts to the parish that are planned, proportionate, and sacrificial-not simply because "our parish needs the money and our time." But, instead, because each of us has a need to give, as God has given generously to us.
