Confirmation

Anointed in the Spirit
Confirmed in a Faithful Community

We invite you, our youth, to join the broader community in the mission of Jesus to promote justice, service and healing by participating in the immediate Confirmation preparation program (Confirmation Immersion) for High School youth eligible to complete the sacraments of initiation.  Confirmation strengthens young people as disciples in a way that helps them live out their baptismal calling and their life in the Eucharist.  The goals of the program are threefold; to form, conform and transform the candidates.

FORM:  Develop a deep understanding of the truths that Christ offers us through full initiation in His Church.  Examine the Church and Her beliefs as embodied in the Creed.  Study and discuss Scripture, Tradition and the magisterial authority of the Church.

CONFORM:  Awaken the love and devotion to Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament and a desire to live morally through better discernment of Christian choices.  Understand the stages of a Christian life and the place regular reception of Sacraments have in our lives, especially the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Appreciate the richness of the Catholic tradition through reflection on the path of the first Apostles and lived by the Saints and Martyrs of the faith.

TRANSFORM:  Desire to be a living Christian witness in thought, word and deed.  Value the special place in Christ’s Church and the parish community.  Recognize personal gifts and strive to use them in fullness of the Beatitudes and the three theological virtues of faith, hope and charity.

“Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity”. (1 Timothy 4:12)
