Stewardship Council

Christ has no body now on earth but yours; no hands but yours; no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ must look out on the world. Yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which he is to bless his people.

Prayer of Saint Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)

You often hear that Stewardship is a ‘Way of Life”, but what does that mean? We have an active Stewardship Council, but what do they do? You might be thinking all
stewardship is about is money.

Stewardship is an attitude of the mind and heart that is expressed in action, a way of
living. The Stewardship Council assists our pastor in developing that Way of Life. The Stewardship Council and its members work with our current ministries to maintain the parish Stewardship process. This process involves educating and communicating this “Way of Life” to our parishioners through events like our Annual Ministry Fair and Commitment of Time, Talent & Treasure, the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, the Litany of the Ministries, Youth Stewardship, and other planned training opportunities for our parish community.

In addition to current activities, we would like to develop opportunities through
retreats, special on-site events and seminars that help all of our parishioners hear the Lord’s voice and respond. We would like to see every parishioner discern, accept, and live out joyfully and generously the commitments, responsibilities, and roles to which God calls him or her.

The Council is always looking for St. Mary Magdalene parishioners who want to
become more involved in the parish and who want to help bring parishioners and
ministries together. Do you see stewardship as a spiritual act, as an opportunity, and have a love for our parish and our church? If this is interesting to you or you feel called in this way, we hope you will consider joining the council.

Stewardship is most effective with a variety of talents or skills please contact our Stewardship Chairperson Michael Karrels at or
678-876-1067 to learn more about the council and become involved.

The mission of the Stewardship Council is to promote stewardship as the grateful,
loving response of a Christian disciple who recognizes and receives God’s gifts of time,
talent, and treasure, and shares this with others, both within our church community and beyond. This council oversees and coordinates the ongoing parish processes
involved in the implementation of stewardship by offering suggestions and advice to our Pastor on how to best implement the process in our Parish. The Council is open to new members. We are seeking individuals within the parish community who most clearly reflect the eagerness and enthusiasm, and possess the energy and belief that it takes to invite, encourage and provide the opportunity for others to become involved in the process of living stewardship as a life-long way of life.
